Museum Workers SpeakBirds of a Feather
Elissa Frankle, United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, USA
For the past year, groups have been meeting around the country to discuss inequality and labor practices in the museum field. These discussions have covered internships, the graduate school pipeline, a lack of diversity in many dimensions throughout museum staff and leadership positions, organizing in museums, and mentorship for emerging professionals. We would like to bring these discussions to Museums and the Web in order to ensure the museum tech community is also keeping these issues front and center, and to encourage self-advocacy and awareness of where we can help to create a better field for the next generation of museum professionals.
