The Greatest of Ambitions
PaperCorey Timpson, Canadian Museum for Human Rights, Canada
At the Canadian Museum for Human Rights, there was an early mandate for Inclusive Design to be a key characteristic of the museum’s culture. What is inclusive design versus accessibility and why does that matter? What provoked such a mandate that would affect a museum as a whole? How does one design inclusively and what does that mean for the experience of visitors? This session kicks off the Inclusive Design track and precedes the session: Inclusive Design 2: Adventures in Accessibility by focusing on the initiation of the inclusive design mandate, the design intent, and design processes which realized both progressive standards and product innovation in the name of providing an inclusive experience for all.
