Demonstration: A Refreshed

Eileen Willis, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, USA

The Metropolitan Museum of Art is launching a refreshed version of its main website,, in March 2016. The launch is timed to coincide with the opening of a third physical museum space, The Met Breuer. The three main drivers of the project—creating a responsive version of the site, incorporating new branding material, and representing the third museum building—presented specific requirements that added constraints, but which also helped to shape stakeholder expectations. This demonstration by two of the project team members will include information about how the design and functionality decisions were made as well as the internal communication plan for the project and how the project fit into larger museum initiatives.
