A dynamic, responsive, fully bilingual website representing the seven National Museums of Wales – which incorporates collections areas in Industry, History and Archaeology, Natural History and Art; e-commerce; learning resources; event programmes for seven sites; featured content; blog and social feeds; as well as specialist databases, enquiries services and customer service information.
Alongside what the site achieves in terms of clarity and accessibility, is what our approach to the redesign has enabled: putting control over what goes onto the site into the hands of staff across the country. Through a Digital Transformation Programme to build skills and confidence, and with help from a new in-house algorithm, the days of fixed prominence are gone: if you want something on the website about your work, you have to create a piece of content about it and evaluate its impact.
As a result, our shop sales are up. So are blog traffic and user comments. Our content is now way more mobile friendly, making it so much easier to share – our social presence is flourishing as a result.
