Manage Projects Digitally with Open Source Tools

Workshop
Michelle Herman, Smithsonian Archives of American Art, USA

Is your inbox overflowing, but still feel “out of the loop?” Are you feeling overwhelmed by coordinating schedules, responsibilities, and timelines of your projects? Join Michelle Herman, Digital Experience Manager from the Smithsonian to learn successful strategies for project management. With open source tools, you will improve team communication and keep your projects on schedule.

First you’ll learn the basics of effective project management, then you will participate in a hands-on session which will simulate two project scenarios using the open-source platform Trello. You will collaborate with each other on a variety of tasks such as communicating in real-time, developing and implementing specific workflows, and distributing files with team members. Michelle will then lead participants through managing tasks, timelines, and assignments in order to keep the project on schedule.
